Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or any favorite blend)
- ~1 cup water (add gradually until dough forms)
Step by Step to Make No Knead Cheesy Bread
1: Prep the Oven and Tray
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
2: Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
3: Add Cheese
- Stir in the shredded cheese until it’s well distributed throughout the flour mixture.
4: Add Water and Form Dough
- Gradually pour in the water while stirring until a soft, sticky dough forms.
- Start with ¾ cup and add more only as needed. You want a shaggy, moist dough not too dry, not too wet.
5: Shape and Score
- Lightly flour your hands and form the dough into a round or oval loaf.
- Place it on the prepared baking sheet and use a sharp knife to score the top with shallow slashes. This helps the loaf rise evenly.
6: Bake to Perfection
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- The loaf should sound hollow when tapped underneath that’s your cue it’s ready.
7: Cool Slightly and Serve
- Let the bread rest for 5-10 minutes after baking to finish setting inside.
- Slice and enjoy warm while the cheese is still melty.
